COASTALUBE

Function Environmentally safe lubricity additive with a secondary function of well-bore stability and shale-inhibition. Coastalube is a drilling fluis lubricant for water-based drilling systems, utilizing a polyalphaolefin (PAO) synthetic hydrocarbon base. Since this fluid is man-made, there are no aromatics and the adverse properties of traditional mineral and diesel oil are not present. Coastalube is readily dispersible in (and compatible with) fresh as well as salt water systems. Coastalube enhances the performance of a drilling mud in low pressure situations by coating the formation and metal parts as well as acting as a boundary layer lubricant in high temperature and pressure applications. Field and laboratory testing demonstrates excellent lubricating characteristics in the drilling fluid system, superior rates of penetration (ROP), reduced torque and drag and reduced tendency toward differential pressure sticking and bit balling. In addition to these qualities, Coastalube meets EPA discharge regulations, has been proven nontoxic with LC50 testing and has no adverse offect on the rheological properties of the drilling fluid system. Coastalube has proven successful in solving problms relating to angle building, angle dropping, kickoff point and mud motor drag.

Uses: Reducing torque and drag Minimizing differential pressure sticking. Drecreasing friction and wear. Minimizing bit balling.
Advantages: Non-toxic. Non-sheening. Base fluid thermal stability > 600º F, 315º C. No adverse effect on rheological properties. Broad range efficiency. Replacement for diesel and mineral oil-based fluids. Meets EPA discharge requirements. No effect on LC50 value of active fluid system.
Packaging: 55-gallon drum. Rig storage bulk containers (13 bbl/550 gal, 2.07 m3).
Recommended Treatments Drlling: 1% - 8%, by volume. Problem Torque/Drag: Pill aplication.
